West of Scotland Regional Hubs: Physiotherapy Research Network home

The West of Scotland Hub is one of 20 regional hubs of the National Physiotherapy Research Network (NPRN) and is hosted and coordinated in association with HealthQWest. The NPRN comprises the core executive, 20 regional hubs, four representatives from the clinical interest groups, and representatives from the Physiotherapy Research Society, physiotherapy managers, consultant physiotherapists and three co-opted members. In this respect the West of Scotland Hub is part of a national group of people interested in physiotherapy related research. The aim of the NPRN is to improve research capacity and capability of physiotherapists.

The regional hubs will aim to:

• Use local expertise to offer peer support and peer review for novice researchers in order to facilitate their development as principal investigators
• Help the development of appropriate and robust research questions locally
• Advise on methods and/or analysis strategies
• Increase awareness of evidence based practice
• Facilitate the use of evidence in practice
• Encourage the development of research capability
• Feedback to the national research network on issues arising on a regional basis
• Inform research priority debate
• Undertake a local learning needs analysis in relation to research
• To be self-facilitating
• To engage with physiotherapy managers

The West of Scotland Hub is facilitated by the Strategic Planning Group. This group consists of academic staff, clinical staff and the practice development facilitators. There are currently approximately 100 Hub members on the mailing list.
